Matai

We welcomed our beautiful baby boy to the world February 22, 2013. I went in that morning for a scheduled induction at 6:30 am. It was about 7:30 by the time we were all checked in and and hooked up to everything. I say this every time but that IV is one of the worst parts of the whole experience! Unfortunately for me the nurse had to do it twice because she blew out my vein the first time. My hand is still sore. Well I was induced and started at the same time with both Corbin and Kiera and Corbin was born at 2:00pm and Kiera at 4:42pm. So I was thinking I would be holding my baby around 3:00pmish. Not quite. My blood pressure kept dropping significantly, they gave me ephedrine twice, and baby's heart rate dropped with every contraction. I was getting nervous and the C word was flying around. Not good. They backed off of the pitocin several times, which then made the contractions stop. Ugh. Luckily I had the best nurse on the planet. Her name is Maggie and she is 74!! She was amazing! I was having back labor and she knew all of the tricks to help me feel comfortable before I got my epidural. She stacked 4 pillows between my legs. She called it Maggie's magic mountain. After I progressed to about a 4 I was allowed to get an epidural. The anesthesiologist, came in and Preston came over to hold my hands. I noticed during the procedure he kept laying his head down on my head. At the end, I looked up at him and he was dripping with sweat, pale, and clammy. He said I feel really weird, and the nurse came around and got him to sit before he passed out! In his defense he did not eat all day, and has been suffering from lack of sleep due to a biochemistry test, and that needle is really big! I stayed at a 4 most of the day finally around 7:30 I was at a 6 and my epidural was wearing off. I asked my doctor if I could have a redose. By the time the anesthesiologist came in I was in a lot of pain. I asked him how long before I was numb again and he said 5 minutes, which was just in the nick of time because 5 minutes later I was ready to push! I pushed 4 times and Matai was born! He arrived at 8:02pm, weighed in at 6 pounds 14 ounces. He was 20.5 inches long.We are so blessed to have him and love him to pieces!

Maternity photo shoot/Baby shower

My lovely friends Camille and Cody wanted to take some maternity pictures of me, luckily we had a really nice day (in the middle of January!). I am about 35-36 weeks here. They did an awesome job and I really like how they turned out!

The next week my sweet friends threw me a baby shower. They really went above and beyond, I am grateful for the wonderful friends I have and they really made me feel special :)

All of these girlies are pregnant!!!

Oh baby

Well I've been busy preparing for the birth of our baby boy! I wanted to surprise my kids with the gender so I made cupcakes with colored icing inside for them to find out if they'd be getting a new sister or brother.
The anticipation was killing them, they were so patient waiting for me to take pictures!

IT'S BLUE!!!

Watermelon

I can't believe our baby girl is 5!! Kiera has had her heart set on a watermelon themed birthday party for months, without wavering. She came up with a lot of the ideas for the party and it was really fun to plan the party with her.

Preston invented a really fun game called watermelon tag for the kids
