Drive in movie

These kids are so imaginative. They turned the box we got our lawnmower out of into a pretend car so they could watch a movie at the "drive in." So stinkin cute.

Splish Splash

It's been very hot around here lately, so my friends got together at Jamie's house so that the kids could swim and do the slip and slide! They had so much fun, and it was great to hang out with everyone.

So cute, love these girlies!! Everyone strike a pose!.

Aren't they so handsome?!

 Just the moms!

Kiera loved the slip and slide!

h.e.l.p.

Lately I've been feeling overwhelmed with housework, I don't know why but I almost feel like it's easier to do when I'm in school and have a million things going on. Maybe it's the routine. But I decided to make let my kids help me out a bit. So I made some chore charts to help motivate.

Very simple, every day the clothespins start on the right and as they check off the chores they move over to the left. They're really excited about it, let's just hope that lasts for a while.

What do you do when you have a break from school?

House Projects! It's bittersweet really, it's nice to have the time to get things done, but also it would be nice to relax a bit. This break we've done several things outside, including mowing the lawn, that was priority #1. I didn't take any pictures because it was just too embarrassing, but trust me, it was a jungle out there. Priority #2 was to paint the swing set. The swing set was given to us by our parents and I played on it with my sisters when I was little, but since it is as old as me, it needed a paint job. At first when Preston started painting it, I hated it. I thought it looked bright red, but now it looks rusty red and it's growing on me.

Here is a before shot with Kiera doing her favorite thing in the world, I swear she would do it all day if I let her.
And here are some "during" shots...

And Kiera has a drink during a break
What does Preston do during his break from painting...

...back flips of course!

And here is the finished product

You might be wondering what I'm doing while I enlist my own personal slaves to do my bidding, working on my tan maybe, or just hanging out in the shade manning the camera while it's a cool 87 degrees!! Nope, I was working on this
Hideous isn't it. I especially love the bow on the side, Gag. Preston dragged this home from the neighbors yard who had it out with the trash. But I knew I could make it cute. It just needed a paint job and some cushions. So I went and found these

Gorgeous right! Ha! Trust me I know what I'm doing.

Told ya :) I love how bold it is and I found the fabric by accident after I painted it and it matched perfectly. Although I think I might make the bottom cushion be the back and make another bottom cushion to make it super comfy.

I also did some projects inside. Kieras dresser has been bugging me for a while. It has glass drawers and even the tidiest drawers still look messy. So I lined them with scrapbook paper.

The best part is that I can switch out the paper anytime I want! LOVE!

I also worked on Corbin's room. I've been wanting red and white horizontal striped curtains for his room for a while now, and I'm the type of person where once I get an idea in my head I pretty much want just that and I don't want to settle for anything else. I also have to be practical and consider that we are a student family. I found a white curtain and a red sheet at Goodwill and pieced together this

I think it looks so piratey in his room ARRRGH!
We also put this shelf up, but I need to figure out what to put on top.
I didn't neglect our room either, although I didn't make these, but I think they are so elegant.

Now I just need to work on that bedspread, and I am making that and of course I know exactly what I want, but I might have to wait until the next break to make it. I'll give a hint, it's an anthropologie knock-off.

Cinco de Mayo

Mexican food is my all time favorite food, I don't even know what Cinco de Mayo celebrates, but I'll use it as an excuse to eat mexican food! All of our friend's met over at the Thompson's for food, photo ops and games. Such a great time!

4 Years

Preston and I spent our 4th anniversary in Brown County. Preston played in a basketball tournament and then we went shopping. At the the end of the day we walked into an antique jewelry store and I found this
Absolutely gorgeous! I fell in love with it instantly and my sweet husband bought it for me! I had been looking for a right handed ring for a couple years and I had an idea of what I wanted, but could never find anything in our price range.
Next we met our friends for dinner, ice cream, and a show. It's so fun to have friends to hang out with and we have 3 other couples that we hang out with that all have anniversarys in May. It's really nice since we all have kids and can just trade babysitting nights :)

While we were waiting for the show we walked around for a bit and we saw this weird bench with this guy painted on it. We have no idea who it is, so if anyone knows, let us know! (Camille and I are kissing him cause we're cool like that)

The show was called, "It's only temporary," it was umm, interesting. While we were waiting we saw this old fashioned love tester so we tried it out, I was burning!

We saw these little statues that um relieve themselves and we were already in a giggly mood from the comedy in the play so we took some funny pictures.

These are the actresses from the play.

We ended the night in a hotel, it was so nice to have some time just to ourselves. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and to be married to my best friend. Happy anniversary Preston, love you forever.

Joyschool Graduation

My baby girl graduated from Joyschool! She looks so cute with her little graduation hat and they even got little diplomas.

EASTER

The kids love to color eggs for Easter. Although it's messy, it's always a good time.

We went and saw the Easter bunny at an egg hunt at the YMCA.

My mom had her annual egg hunt at her house for all of the grandkids. She also made a delicious dinner for our family. It's always fun to see my sibling and to get the cousins together.

We took some pics by my mom's gorgeous tulips.
