Party time

Our friends are so fun! They throw the absolute best parties ever. Back in December our friends the Carlson's hosted a party at the Merkley's house and it was a blast!! We had lots of yummy food including a hot chocolate bar, a gingerbread house making contest, a sweater contest and a hilarious white elephant gift exchange.

The ugliest and most festive-yeah I have Christmas clogs on

The girls

The guys

Everyone with their gift

This weekend we were invited to a murder mystery party at our friend's the Cutler's. It was a pirate theme, and everyone did such a great job with their costumes and playing their parts. I was Antonia Napier the governor's daughter who was in love with a poor sea man Sealegs Sam (Preston) Preston ended up being the murderer and did a great job making everyone believe that is was the dastardly Commodore (Mike Merkley). There were 10 couples in all and the the whole night was so memorable. Can't wait to see what the next party will be, I think it might be our turn...

Cutest patients ever

Part of being in hygiene school is obviously the part where I get to clean teeth :) My very first patient was Preston ( I don't have pictures, which I'm sure he's glad about) and it took me 2 appts. to get through everything. Poor guy, I took a whole full mouth set of radio graphs (x-rays) and that was pretty much the whole first appointment because I was so slow. The second appointment we actually got to the cleaning part, which was great because he had nothing for me to scale (scrape) off. I saw him for his recall appointment-6 months later, and what a difference! He was in and out in no time. I've also been able to see my kids in clinic and clean their teeth as we get to do a pediatric rotation as well. They both loved it and did great! I was even able to to put sealants on Corbin!

Christmas 2011

Well I kept looking and looking for the Christmas pictures, and this was all I found. These were taken at our ward Christmas dinner. On Christmas morning we skyped with Nana and Grandpa in Cailfornia, so I think I was distracted by that and forgot to take pictures. But we had a great Christmas and a well deserved month off of school! It was fantastic! As usual we had many projects to work on over our break. We had  been looking for a new tv stand and I saw this beauty at Goodwill.
Preston was skeptical but I had a vision....
Isn't it gorgeous! I am in love with it. We took the top row of drawers out, placed some board on the bottom (under the drawers was just flimsy cardboard), painted the whole thing off white, and painted the hardware black. I think it looks awesome and it just what I had been wanting.
