House Projects! It's bittersweet really, it's nice to have the time to get things done, but also it would be nice to relax a bit. This break we've done several things outside, including mowing the lawn, that was priority #1. I didn't take any pictures because it was just too embarrassing, but trust me, it was a jungle out there. Priority #2 was to paint the swing set. The swing set was given to us by our parents and I played on it with my sisters when I was little, but since it is as old as me, it needed a paint job. At first when Preston started painting it, I hated it. I thought it looked bright red, but now it looks rusty red and it's growing on me.
Here is a before shot with Kiera doing her favorite thing in the world, I swear she would do it all day if I let her.
And here are some "during" shots...
And Kiera has a drink during a break
What does Preston do during his break from painting...
...back flips of course!
And here is the finished product
You might be wondering what I'm doing while I enlist my own personal slaves to do my bidding, working on my tan maybe, or just hanging out in the shade manning the camera while it's a cool 87 degrees!! Nope, I was working on this
Hideous isn't it. I especially love the bow on the side, Gag. Preston dragged this home from the neighbors yard who had it out with the trash. But I knew I could make it cute. It just needed a paint job and some cushions. So I went and found these
Gorgeous right! Ha! Trust me I know what I'm doing.
Told ya :) I love how bold it is and I found the fabric by accident after I painted it and it matched perfectly. Although I think I might make the bottom cushion be the back and make another bottom cushion to make it super comfy.
I also did some projects inside. Kieras dresser has been bugging me for a while. It has glass drawers and even the tidiest drawers still look messy. So I lined them with scrapbook paper.
The best part is that I can switch out the paper anytime I want! LOVE!
I also worked on Corbin's room. I've been wanting red and white horizontal striped curtains for his room for a while now, and I'm the type of person where once I get an idea in my head I pretty much want just that and I don't want to settle for anything else. I also have to be practical and consider that we are a student family. I found a white curtain and a red sheet at Goodwill and pieced together this
I think it looks so piratey in his room ARRRGH!
We also put this shelf up, but I need to figure out what to put on top.
I didn't neglect our room either, although I didn't make these, but I think they are so elegant.
Now I just need to work on that bedspread, and I am making that and of course I know exactly what I want, but I might have to wait until the next break to make it. I'll give a hint, it's an anthropologie knock-off.
